Along with my package today, my mum received one of her magazines from the States. It was repackaged in a brown manilla envelope and had the original address cut out and taped onto the front.
I thought what lay inside it was her "Glamour" magazine since it's a fashion magazine and is most likely to be checked.
It was funny to see it was a "House Beautiful" magazine. I mean why would they want to check that?? It's just an interior and house magazine, filed with pages on wall paints and interesting furniture pieces and ways of furnishing rooms and fun beautiful ideas... Unless they people who opened it up was moving houses and wanted some ideas for some rooms and furnishings, other than that i have no idea why they would open it up and check it.

Conversation
So when i opened up my package and so the dvd of "Helvetica" i got excited and my dad came over and saw it.
Dad: So what is it?
Me: A typeface
Dad: What's so special about it?
Me: It's Helvetica!
Dad: So. It looks like all the other types.
That was a frustrating moment for me and i was surprised at myself that i actually got offended. I tried explaining to my dad about Helvetica and it being one of the most known typefaces..... etc, but all i got was a blank stare and silence. He tried convincing me it looked like all the other typefaces, sigh. It was a funny experience i guess i learnt to keep quiet about my brief knowledge on type. I can't wait to learn so much more.
I have a feeling this summer will be interesting as I'm the type of person who gets all excited when i see interesting typography or see i typeface i know. And so my extended family e.g my cousins will definitely look at me weirdly and laugh at me for being such a typography geek. They don't even know what typography is so it will be interesting to try and explain to them my excitements. I look forward to that experience.

Adding the Kuwait Touch
I bought this sadu weaved ribbon, to include in the envelopes, maybe as an embellishment to the instructions envelope or my objects envelope.
Order of Envelopes
Thinking about the instructions i will send with the envelopes and thinking of taking maybe a illustrative diagrammatic approach. Instead of spelling out the instructions maybe have like a map or diagram.
A surprise waiting at my dad's office
My dad sent me this picture of my Amazon package which FINALLY ARRIVED!!!! can't wait to get it this evening and hopefully photograph the package and how it was torn open and checked.
